Kim Stienstra

I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science (LCDS) of the University of Oxford, funded by the NWO Rubicon grant. I am a Non-stipendiary Research Fellow at Nuffield College.

Previously, I was a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute (EUI).

I obtained my PhD at the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University and the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) graduate school. In my dissertation, I investigated how schools, family background, and genetic factors work together to shape educational inequalities.

My research interests include educational inequality, social stratification, gene-environment interactions, and quantitative methods.

I have been awarded an NWO Rubicon grant to conduct postdoctoral research at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science, University of Oxford. Starting September 1st, I will work on the project 'From adversity to achievement: Understanding educational inequality through genetic and social factors'.
