Kim Stienstra

I work as a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute (EUI).

Before this, I worked as a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology at Utrecht University and the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) graduate school. In my dissertation, I studied the role of the school environment in explaining educational inequality. Using twin methods, I examined whether school quality mitigates or exacerbates the influences of children's family background, gender, and genes.

Prior to my PhD, I obtained my bachelor's degree in Sociology and research master's degree in Sociology and Social Research (cum laude) at Utrecht University.

My research interests include educational inequality, social stratification, gene-environment interactions, and quantitative methods.
